Latest tip

Never, under any circumstances - even if your garage studio is well over 90 degrees and you feel like you're going through 'The Change' - should you sit down at the torch in shorts and a tank top.

NEVER!!!!

omg, my leg hurts...that's the shockiest glass I've ever used...I look like I've got chicken pox! Where the hell did I put that aloe vera last summer?

Leather apron!!! I too have a hot garage studio here in Texas and I will admit to wearing flip flops while I torch. I do still usually wear a long sleeve shirt, but the bottom half varies. I count on my leather apron to protect most of that half.. It's MAN sized so it covers pretty well. As for the tank top.. your on your own with that one! I do know of other Texas lampworkers guilty of that one!

Hope your legs heal soon!!!

Thanks for the well wishes. Had a vodka tonic and am feeling much better. It was just soooo hot out there - the first really hot day so far this spring -and I guess I forgot myself. That will not happen again!

i am so very sorry you got hurt - i hope you are doing better... and am sure it will take a while to heal... it is so easy to be lax on safety... last weekend i was working with a torch, dropped what i was holding then reached around in front of it to pick up what i had dropped... i was lucky i didn't hurt myself more...very scary... hope the weather has cooled a bit...

Oh no! This is why I'm thankful that my art is not dangerous. I agree with the idea of a leather apron.
