What next?

I just wanted to pop in and say hi.

Hi.

Hope everyone had an awesome Independence Day. We're usually on vacation over the 4th but not this year. And that turned out to be a good thing. Robert's back went out on the 3rd. (My sister was watching the kids for us and we actually had a 'date' and plans, so OF COURSE that's when it happened.)

Anyway, his back went 'Krechhicktrckkkkrkkkarggggg' and he's been in bed ever since. Literally, he's gotten up 4 times since it happened. Which is progress. The last time this happened, he was on the couch for three days, unable to get up at all.

Do not ask.

So, I've been not working, trying to stay quiet and keep the kids occupied. Nothing has gotten done except for a few orders I had to fill. I did do my best to make sure the kids had fun on the 4th. We played and swam and ate typical 4th of July food. We spit watermelon seeds all over the patio, threw water ballons at each other, made snowcones, set off fireworks, (carefully placing them on the driveway where Robert could watch through the bedroom window), watched and listened to the neighborhood set off real fireworks late into the night. I let them stay up and eat ice cream and watch movies until about 2 a.m. (they couldn't have slept anyway, what with the rednecks in full-on firework mode) and then I let them sleep as late as they wanted the next morning.

It wasn't exactly a Bahamas vacation, but it wasn't bad, either.

Argh, I do hope your sweetie is feeling somewhat better. What a bummer all around. Your mini vacation for the 4th is going to be one the kids remember fondly, you know that, don't you? Then, when they are grown and have kids of their own, they'll cherish it even more because then they'll understand.
